As a public service the Gillette Police Department will conduct security checks on private residences while the owner/resident(s) are out of town. There will be a 2 week time limit on these security checks, extensions may be granted only under “special circumstances” if approved by either the Chief of Police or his designee. The Gillette Police Department cannot guarantee, nor assume any liability for the safety of the individual’s property as a result of these security checks.
By requesting a Gillette Police Department security check, the owner/resident is authorizing officers from the Gillette Police Department to enter the residence if it is found unsecured, (open or unlocked doors and windows) for the purpose of attempting to secure the residence, checking for unauthorized persons or intruders and attempting to determine if a crime has been committed.
Any unauthorized persons will be identified and the owner/resident is authorizing the Gillette Police Department to remove them from the residence.
